BIG SOUTH REPRESENT!!!
In what could be the first but certainly won’t be the last instance of universities getting the hell away from Chick-fil-A, Davidson College in North Carolina has announced it will no longer serve Chick-fil-A at campus functions.
The school used to serve Chick-fil-A at late-night campus events, but students protested and petitioned after Dan Cathy’s controversial comments against marriage equality (and mainstream media’s subsequent re-discovery of the hefty donations he made to anti-gay organizations).
Now, the school has released a statement saying they’re done serving Chick-fil-A:
We reached out to the Union Board members to begin initial conversations but because the board operates on consensus decision-making, a final decision is being put off until we can have face to face conversations and gather more student input. Until a final decision is made, alternative options will be served at After Midnight and other Union Board events. The Davidson College Union Board is firmly committed to building an inclusive community that serves each member of our student body.
Well, what do you know?
Reblog if you support gay rights.
[Saying someone shouldn’t be gay because it’s against your religion makes as much sense as saying someone shouldn’t eat a donut because you’re on a diet.]
[Image is of Sarah Palin and her husband at Chick-fil-A with the text:
It’s funny how people support more pro-gay companies by trying to show their support for a single anti-gay company.
Google, Apple, and Microsoft likely designed the OS on the smartphone used to take pictures at Chik-fil-A today.
These pictures were likely uploaded (using an Apple, Google, or Microsoft product) to the major social networks, Facebook and Twitter, over one of the major cellular networks, Verizon, Sprint, T-Mobile, or AT&T
The customers probably purchased a beverage with their meal, which was provided by Coca-Cola, the only beverage products available at Chick-fil-A.
If they used a credit/debit card to purchase their meal, they more than lkely used a Visa, MasterCard, or American Express card.
If they drove there, there is a high probability they used a car produced by Chrysler, Ford, General Motors, or Toyota.
What do all these companies, besides Chick-fil-A have in common? They are all PRO-GAY. So if you want to support the anti-gay bigots, you’re better off staying at home doing absolutely nothing. But make sure you aren’t using a computer to share your opinions, as the father of computer science and artificial intelligence, Alan Turing, was homosexual.]

In which Jackson Pearce gives a perfect account of why Chick-fil-A’s anti-marriage announcement just wasn’t cool. One side note, though - because ENDA has yet to pass, it technically is legal for the restaurant to discriminate against LGBT employees in something like 30 states.
Such a good video!!!
If you’re going to boycott a company because they’re against LGBT rights… you might also be interested in supporting other companies because they support LGBT rights. The Human Rights Campaign’s annual LGBT Buyer’s Guide rates businesses on a scale from 0 to 100, based on whether or not they have policies that support LGBT employees.
